Oral allergy syndrome occurs in people with food allergies. When an allergic person eats a certain food they may feel, tingling of the lips or mouth, itchiness of the mouth or throat, and swelling. The reaction can be caused by fruits and vegetables more often in ragweed season.

However, I have had personal experience with itching of the throat and mouth with eating cod. Oral Allergy Syndrome can occur with most any food you are allergic to, but more often the culprits are fruits and vegetables. The following articles have more information on Oral Allergy Syndrome.
